Since 1975, Donna has been an environmental and organic farming activist. As a Soil to Soul serial entrepreneur, she has founded and successfully run ten small green business throughout her career. In 1980, she started one of the first Organic School Garden projects in the nation and ran a profitable two-acre organic farm.
At 25 years of age, after a road trip across America in 1982 she founded and became the CEO of the first natural foods eatery in Alaska; The Fresh Sourdough Express Bakery & Cafe which is still satisfying people’s taste buds with local and organic food.
In 1992 she created the brand AH!LASKA the first organic cocoa and chocolate syrup in the nation. Donna directed and coordinated the successful launch of several key product lines in the competitive natural foods industry where quick movement from conceptual stages to market is essential. Along with this, she is the founder and CEO of A Memorable Experience Vacation Rental in Homer Alaska, and In Hawaii, she founded the Culinary Healing Arts Retreat, Always In Season Farmstead Vacation Rental and Always In Season Farmers Market Cafe.
In 2011 Donna became a certified wellness and transformation consultant with the Institute For Integrative Nutrition. She consults budding Soil to Soul entrepreneurs choosing to start or to green up their business practices while maintaining a healthy lifestyle, helping clients to become the best version of themselves by guiding them to be part of the solution and not the pollution. In unison, she founded Soil To Soul Solutions to help guide more people to live a more fulfilling lifestyle. As an author and a coach, she figures, “why retire when I can Inspire.” Donna is also an effervescent fermenting expert and teaches The Art of Fermentation classes.
She is a board member for the Kohala Village Hub, a non-profit organization dedicated to community building through the arts, ecology, education and regenerative agriculture. Donna is also a board member for the HIP Agi, Hawaii Institute of Pacific Agriculture.
Donna wrote, and self-published Yummy Recipes Wilderness Wonders. She is currently in the process of finalizing her next book, “The Life Of An Eco Bohemian Entrepreneur.” Interconnecting From The Soil to the Soul
In 2010, Donna and her husband Kevin were honored as the Small Business owners of the year for the state of Alaska. Donna has a degree in Social Ecology from Evergreen State College and a diploma from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.
See resides in paradise on the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii with her husband, two animalizing dogs, Chester and Sunshine, Buddha Cat, five sheep and enough food growing on their three-acre farmstead to feed themselves and the neighbors; with a little help from the local farmers.
